Biobased Adhesives—Rating Method

This standard applies to the rating of biobased content in adhesive products. Products shall comply with relevant mandatory standards and the basic technical requirements applicable to their intended uses, and shall be rated based on biobased carbon content or biobased mass content. Products are classified into Grades A, B and C: biobased carbon content shall be at least 90%, from 50% to below 90%, and from 24% to below 50%, respectively; products below the Grade C threshold shall not be designated as biobased adhesives. Where ratings based on carbon content and mass content differ, the rating based on biobased carbon content shall prevail. Test reports shall state product information, test methods, carbon or mass content, production-unit material data, and rating results.
