Abstract

This guidance is intended for air operators, airports, ground service providers, freight forwarders, shippers, training organizations, and personnel performing functions related to the air transport of dangerous goods. It guides employers in establishing competency-based training and assessment programs under Subsection 1.5 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. Employers should identify job functions and required competencies, and establish tailored arrangements for training, assessment, instructors, course materials, recordkeeping, and quality assurance to ensure personnel possess the necessary knowledge and skills before performing their functions. The guidance provides task lists, course design and assessment methods, and establishes a CBTA Centre accreditation framework to support validation of training providers and in-house corporate training systems.
