Determination of Impurity Content in Hydrogen for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells—Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry
Abstract
This standard applies to the determination of methane, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, formic acid and ammonia in hydrogen products for proton exchange membrane fuel cell vehicles, and specifies the applicable determination ranges for each component. It uses Fourier transform infrared spectrometry for qualitative analysis based on characteristic absorption peaks and quantitative determination by an external standard method. Laboratories shall use qualified instruments and calibrated gas reference materials, and control sampling, purging, calibration, replicate determination and quality checks. Particulates shall be removed before testing; samples exceeding the determination range shall be diluted before testing, and exhaust-gas treatment measures shall be adopted.
