Environmental Testing—Part 2: Test Methods—Test: Icing and Melting Cycle Test
Abstract
This document specifies methods, equipment, specimens, preconditioning, icing and melting operations, icing-degree measurement, inspections and test reporting for icing and melting cycle tests. It applies to assessing the environmental adaptability of electrical and electronic products and materials used outdoors in icing areas. Each cycle shall consist sequentially of icing stage Z1 and melting stage Z2, while specimen type, quantity and inspection items shall be determined in accordance with relevant product specifications. Test equipment shall provide waterproofing, drainage and stable spraying capability. Deionized or distilled water should be used for spraying, with controls for pH, conductivity, precooling temperature, droplet size, flow rate, wind speed and air temperature. Appearance, dimensions, functional performance and, where necessary, electrical and mechanical performance shall be inspected before and after testing, and icing conditions and results shall be recorded.
