Abstract

This document applies to the online treatment, replacement, offline treatment and reuse, replenishment, and disposal of gear oils, hydraulic oils, and greases used in wind turbines. Operating entities shall control lubricant quality through filtration, monitoring, and, where necessary, additive replenishment. Where lubricants meet specified deterioration, contamination, or test thresholds, systems shall be flushed, filter elements replaced, and compliant lubricants introduced as required. Treated gear oil may be reused in wind turbines or stored for standby use only after meeting regenerated-oil quality requirements. Grease shall be replenished or replaced according to equipment conditions and manufacturers' requirements. Waste lubricants, cleaning agents, and flushing oils shall not be discharged directly and shall be recovered and disposed of by entities holding hazardous-waste operation permits.
