Iron-bearing Dust and Sludge—Determination of Lead and Zinc Content—Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry
Abstract
This standard applies to the determination of lead and zinc in iron-bearing dust and sludge, with determination ranges of 0.005%–10.0% for lead and 0.004%–20.0% for zinc. Laboratories shall sample, prepare and dry specimens as specified; decompose specimens using hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid and perchloric acid; and determine the analytes by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. Specified-purity reagents, standard solutions and compliant instruments shall be used, calibration curves and blank tests shall be established, and solutions exceeding the linear range shall be diluted. Results shall be accepted according to repeatability limits, averaged or supplemented by additional determinations, rounded as specified, and reported in a test report.
