Applicable to new and existing concrete structures throughout their life cycle or at one or more life-cycle stages, covering planning, design, construction, use and end-of-life management. It requires the development and dynamic updating of life-cycle management scenarios and the assessment of structural performance and sustainability using social, environmental and economic indicators. Planning and design shall specify performance, materials, dimensions, and maintenance and repair arrangements; construction shall record and transfer as-built information; and the use stage shall include initial and periodic inspection, diagnosis, repair and performance prediction. At the end of use, demolition, repurposing, reuse and recycling options shall be assessed to reduce waste and retain management information.
