Life Cycle Management of Concrete Structures—Part 2: Structural Planning and Design Stage (Draft for Comments)
Abstract
This document applies to life cycle management during the planning and design stages of concrete structures. At the planning stage, structural use, design working life, performance requirements and sustainability indicators shall be defined, and a basic life cycle management scenario covering construction, maintenance, demolition, and material reuse and recycling shall be documented; structural type, dimensions, materials and construction methods shall be compared and selected. At the design stage, design actions, analysis methods, material properties and limit states shall be verified, sustainability indicators evaluated, and maintenance and end-of-life management plans developed. Where planning-stage technical parameters or sustainability balance cannot be achieved, the structural scheme shall be fed back and re-optimized.
