Non-destructive testing—Acoustic emission testing—Detection of corrosion at atmospheric and low-pressure metallic storage tank floors
Abstract
This standard applies to non-destructive testing activities using acoustic emission methods to detect corrosion conditions at the floors of atmospheric and low-pressure metallic storage tanks, principally for entities involved in tank operation, inspection and testing, and maintenance. It is identical to ISO 24489:2024 and specifies a technical method for identifying tank-floor corrosion through acoustic emission testing, providing a basis for tank-floor integrity assessment, corrosion-risk identification, and subsequent inspection and maintenance. Relevant entities should conduct testing in accordance with the prescribed methods and carry out further assessment or maintenance actions in light of the results.
