Estimation Method of Nori Carbon Sink
Abstract
This standard applies to carbon sink calculation for cultivated nori, covering the complete marine cultivation cycle of Neopyropia yezoensis and Neoporphyra haitanensis. Entities conducting measurement shall use the carbon stock change method and collect and record information including cultivation areas, species, area, yield and sampling. They shall determine the dry-to-wet ratio and carbon fraction of thalli through prescribed testing or recommended values, and calculate wet-weight yield per unit area, harvested carbon stock, carbon stock change per unit time, and carbon sink expressed as carbon dioxide equivalent. Where current-year yield cannot be obtained, local fisheries statistics may be referenced. Data processing shall comply with marine monitoring quality-control requirements; sample collection, pretreatment, storage and transfer shall ensure representativeness, uniqueness and freedom from contamination, while original records, analytical records and survey reports shall be reviewed, signed and archived.
