Proposed GB Mandatory Classification and Labelling of 20 Hazardous Chemical Substances

The proposal would introduce mandatory classification and labelling requirements for 20 hazardous chemical substances placed on the Great Britain market. Manufacturers, importers and supply-chain operators of the relevant substances would be required to apply the specified hazard classes, hazard statements, pictograms, signal words, supplemental hazard statements, acute toxicity estimates, M-factors and specific concentration limits in classification, packaging and labelling. The substances include boron compounds, pesticide active substances, fragrances and essential oils, preservatives and phosphonic acid substances, several of which are classified as Reproductive Toxicity Category 1B or Carcinogenicity Category 1B. Mixtures containing reproductive-toxic boron compounds must be classified as reproductive toxicants where the aggregate concentration of such boron compounds placed on the market is at least 0.3%.
