Protection against lightning—Part 1: General principles

This standard applies to lightning protection for structures, their internal systems, service facilities and related installations. It specifies the general principles of lightning protection, lightning parameters, objects requiring protection, types of damage and loss, and the overall framework for selecting protective measures. Relevant entities engaged in construction, design, installation, inspection, operation and maintenance shall adopt external lightning protection, internal lightning protection and lightning electromagnetic impulse protection measures according to lightning risk and protection needs, and coordinate such measures with subsequent risk management, protection system design and inspection requirements. This standard is identical to IEC 62305-1:2024 and fully replaces GB/T 21714.1-2015.
