Safety Specification for Small Electric High Pressure Cleaners/Washers (Draft for Comments)

This standard applies to commercial and household small electric high-pressure cleaners using room-temperature water or low-viscosity, particle-free and non-corrosive cleaning-agent mixtures, driven by electric motors and operated with hand-held spray guns; cleaners used in special environments are excluded. Manufacturers shall ensure compliance with requirements on electrical safety, guarding of rotating parts, overpressure protection, water-jet injury control, mechanical strength, drop resistance, power connections, motors, markings and instructions. Products using lithium-ion battery systems shall provide protection against reverse connection, overcharge, over-discharge, short circuit and excessive temperature, and restrict compatibility with non-original batteries. This revision adds requirements for lithium batteries, internal wiring, external flexible cords, permanent-magnet brushless motor systems, short-time over-torque, overspeed and safety markings.
