Technical Guidelines for Ocean Dumping Site Selection
Abstract
This standard applies to the selection of ocean dumping sites within waters under the jurisdiction of the People's Republic of China for dredged material, inert inorganic geological material, and fishery waste. It may also be used as a reference for dedicated capacity assessments of established dumping sites. Site-selection entities shall conduct data collection, marine environmental investigation and assessment, sea dumping tests, and numerical modelling; assess daily and annual site capacity and impacts on water quality, sediments, biological resources, bathymetry, and sensitive receptors; and determine site boundaries, nearshore or offshore attributes, permitted dumping materials, controlled dumping volumes, depth requirements, zoned rotation arrangements, sensitive-period controls, and monitoring measures. A site-selection report shall be prepared as required.
