Performance Requirements for Low Level Radioactive Waste Form—Cemented Waste Form
Abstract
This standard applies to cemented low-level radioactive waste forms intended for near-surface disposal or cavern disposal. Radioactivity concentration shall meet the classification requirements for low-level radioactive waste; no free liquid is permitted; compressive strength shall be no less than 7 MPa; and the strength deviation of core samples shall not exceed ±20% of the mean. Leach resistance, immersion resistance, freeze-thaw resistance and gamma irradiation resistance shall be tested and meet the applicable limits for leach rate, cumulative leach fraction, appearance and strength loss. Certain tests may be exempted under specified storage or disposal temperature conditions or cumulative irradiation doses. Performance testing shall be repeated when the solidification formulation or process changes.
