Abstract

The Regulation applies to electronic displays placed on the market in the United Arab Emirates, including televisions, computer monitors and digital signage displays. It excludes displays with a screen area below 100 cm², projectors, integrated display units in products covered by other regulations such as smartphones and tablets, medical imaging displays, virtual reality headsets, security and surveillance displays, and industrial control panels. Products must meet maximum on-mode power limits and off-mode, standby-mode and networked-standby power limits, and must have a default automatic power-down function activated after no more than four hours of inactivity. Manufacturers must determine star ratings according to the Energy Efficiency Index and affix a visible energy label to the product or packaging containing a QR code, efficiency rating, SDR/HDR energy consumption, screen size and resolution.
